Helicopter Tips 001 – Checklist Distraction

It happens all the time – you are part way through a checklist and something comes up to distract you – maybe a radio call, or something catches your eye or maybe someone talks to you = checklist distraction. When you go back to resume your checklist, you might think to go back to where you *remember* getting to, but that is a bad habit. Because it can happen that what you *remember* doing last was in fact what you were about to do/check, not what you ACTUALLY did/checked.

So Helicopter Tips 001 – Checklist Distraction is the suggestion of a new habit with checklists – anytime you get interrupted or distracted, don’t go back to what you *remember* doing last, go back one step before that (or two) and you *should* never miss a checklist step again when recovering from a checklist distraction.
